Because when we nurture our children, we strengthen our entire community.

In a small town where resources can often be limited, something extraordinary is taking place. Through color, movement, and imagination, a group of dedicated volunteers is building something much bigger than an art class—they're building a safe, joyful, and inclusive space for our children to grow.

Since their launch, our free art classes have offered much more than creative instruction. They’ve become a safe haven for self-expression, connection, and cultural celebration. Each session is filled with laughter, discovery, and hands-on exploration as children learn to paint, draw, sculpt, dance, perform, and speak Spanish—all while embracing the richness of Hispanic folk art and connecting with each other.

Our first class introduced the children to the magic of puppetry, allowing them to create their own characters and bring them to life. The second class focused on Alebrijes, vibrant and fantastical creatures from Mexican folk tradition, teaching both craftsmanship and cultural heritage. These creative experiences also help children build confidence in speaking Spanish, while exploring their identities in a supportive environment.

But these classes are about more than just art.
They have become a place where children can interact freely and safely, where parents connect to local resources, and where community donations—like food, school supplies, and clothing—are shared with families who need them most. The space fosters trust, imagination, and community care, all at once.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of Grace Episcopal Church, its warmhearted congregation, and the continued support of Reverend Foose. We are equally grateful to our volunteer teachers: Veronica Ponce de Leon -a folk art teacher with more than 20 years of experience- and Miss Cabrera, a volunteer with a passion for education. Who give their time and talent to make every session meaningful and memorable.

Our mission is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: children deserve spaces where they are free to create, explore, and simply be themselves. These classes are planting seeds—not just of creativity, but of confidence, cultural pride, and community connection.
As we look to the future, we hope to expand this program, reaching more children and welcoming more families into this growing circle of creativity and care. If you’d like to get involved—by volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word—we’d love to hear from you.
